The Village of Mechanicsburg was established in 1814 on The Shawnee Indian Village of Chief Ohito and is home to 1,744 people* in south-east Champaign County, Ohio.
The village has a strong historical background. Its noted for five Historical Markers (from the Ohio Historical Society), its small village appeal, friendly community, agricultural community, and an "Excellent" rated School District by the Ohio Department of Education. The Village is also noted for being the hometown of Notable Natives including Addison White, William B. Saxbe, James Roy Hopkins, and Joseph E. Wing. Beyond its Notable Natives Mechanicsburg has also had deep roots being a participant of the underground railroad where the Village led 500 slaves to their freedom.

Mechanicsburg Farmers' & Artisans' Market
Come shop the Mechanicsburg Farmers' and Artisans' Market, located at the Heritage Co-Op Farm & Feed Store on Route 29 in Mechanicsburg! The market is open Tuesday afternoons from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm. Next market, there will be a variety of fresh vegetables, including green beans, garlic, tomatoes, potatoes, pickling cucumbers, sweet onions, zucchini, and other vegetables as they become available. There are also eggs, various fruits from Herr Farms, delicious baked goods, including pies, pretzels, cinnamon rolls, etc., handmade natural bath, body care and pet products, and fine art. New York Style Hot dogs will be serving burgers and hot dogs, and Hemisphere Coffee will be serving iced and hot coffee. And don't forget the occasional live entertainment!
